Access
By Train
If you use bus, take a "World Heritage Sightseeing Bus" and get off at the "Hotel Seikoen-Mae" bus stop which is the nearest bus stop. Then, walk back about 50 meters.
Or take a bus bound for "Yumoto Onsen/Chuzenji Onsen/Okuhosoo" and get off at the "Shinkyo Bridge" bus stop (*Approximately 6 to 8 minute bus journey). Cross the Nikko Bridge parallel to the Shinkyo Bridge, turn right at the Shinkyo Crossing and continue walking about 200 meters. You will find us after walking about 30 meters on the left turning slope.
If you use a taxi, it costs about 800-1000 yen.
By Car
Get off the Tohoku Expressway at the Utsunomiya IC and take the Nikko-Utsunomiya Road. Then off at the Nikko IC and immediately turn left. Head to "Toshogu" and go along the road. And turn left at the Gokomachi Crossing and then turn right at the Shinkyo Crossing. Go along the road about 200 meters. You will find a signboard of Tokanso after driving about 30 meters on the left turning slope
Pay extra attention if you visit Nikko by car in winter
There is not much snow around Nikko Stations compared to the Okunikko Yumoto Onsen area. However, since its altitude is high, it often snows in winter. Please prepare for snow and icy road with tire chain or snow tires.
